The Mercure Munich Alt Stadt is located about a block from the beautiful Marienplatz and was the perfect location to visit the many Christmas markets in the area. The hotel is unassuming from the exterior but don't be fooled. It is modern inside, extremely comfortable and meticulously clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful in providing recommendations for restaurants and transportation. The included breakfasts were delicious, with a wide variety of options, including both typical continental and English style offerings. And they keep the dining room open at night for a late night coffee or hot chocolate, which makes for a pleasant end to a winter's day of exploring the beautiful city of Munich.
